Welcome! The DocLands Documentary Film Festival is celebrating its third year May 2-5 and we need your support!

Why volunteer at DocLands?  Because in just 4 days, we pack in over 40 documentary films and events that are sure to inspire engaged conversation, an expanded awareness of the world, and a supportive community around this important art form. And you’ll be at the center of it all!

Ready to get involved?  We are looking for reliable, hard working, positive team members who can volunteer one full day at the Festival.

TO VOLUNTEER AT MVFF:

  • You must be at least 18 years old
    (For applicants between 14 and 17 years old, please reach out to [email protected] )
  • NEW THIS YEAR – Commit to a minimum of one full day of volunteering (approx. 5 – 10 hours)
  • Attendance at our volunteer orientation in April

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Volunteers facilitate pick-up of pre-ordered tickets at will call.

We are seeking friendly and reliable volunteers to drive festival guests to and from screenings, events, hotels, and airports. Must have clean DMV report and presentable, reliable car. Please send in a resume and photos of your vehicle to the transportation manager, Joanny Rivera, at [email protected]

Volunteers assistant with line control, seat saving, patron ushering, ticket/badge scanning, and ballot distribution/collection in San Rafael and Mill Valley. This team is critical to making the festival happen as this is DocLands’s greatest need.

Looking for upbeat and punctual volunteers to help with food and beverage service, event set-up and break-down (must be able to lift 25lbs), registration/check-in, clean-up (late shifts).  Must be 21 or older, able to problem solve, stay on task, and be willing to get your hands dirty.  Select volunteer openings available for VIP, sponsor, supply pick-up, and filmmaker concierge service at events.

Looking for detail-oriented volunteers to help with: schedule and poster distribution, ticket distribution, niche marketing / outreach to local community partners, press / media support, press conference support, press kit creation and distribution, web work / content management, and help with digital media projects. If you are interested in helping with social media please send in a resume and a letter of interest to the operations manager, Dave Feiferis, at [email protected]

Looking for volunteers to help with many pre-festival projects such as badges, reserved seat signs, event signage, venue supply kits, data entry, audience award ballots, various mailers, and staff meeting support with food and beverage set-up and breakdown.

We are seeking skilled volunteer photographers and videographers to help document DocLands moments for years to come. Volunteers will be assigned to shoot film introductions, Q&A’s, red carpet arrivals, special events, filmmaker outings, panels, sponsor activations, and the general festival atmosphere. Must have own camera. Must be able to take direction and deliver media immediately following event. Please fill out the Volunteer Photographer Interest Form at mvff.com/photo including a link to your photos online.

The Sponsorship team is looking for detail-oriented individuals to help with the following: sponsor check-in and concierge service, sponsor activations within festival venues, sponsorship mailers, sponsor reserved seating in theaters, and support at events.

VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT:

You are an ambassador and the face of the DocLands Documentary Film Festival to both patrons and to the public at large. As a volunteer you are expected to:

  • Have fun!
  • Treat all patrons, visitors, artists, staff and fellow volunteers with respect and courtesy
  • Conduct yourself in a friendly and professional manner
  • Do not consume alcohol or drugs while on a shift and do not report for duty while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Show up on time and dress appropriately for your shift
  • Contact the Volunteer Department immediately when you need to cancel a shift
  • Work through your entire shift
  • Keep all information you handle confidential
